Substance misuse treatment programs typically feature a wide range of services designed to help people struggling with drug or alcohol use. Addiction is considered by many researchers, medical experts, and mental health specialists to be a chronic, relapsing brain disease. As such, comprehensive treatment that includes detox, evidence-based therapies, medication-assisted treatment, and aftercare is often recommended to promote the best possible outcomes for those struggling with addiction.

Detox & Rehab Options in Gandy, Florida

Detox and rehab options near Gandy include intervention, medical detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient programs, aftercare planning, and more.

Intervention

Professional interventions are planned family meetings designed to help a loved one struggling with addiction. These gatherings are typically planned and led by trained professionals and intervention specialists, such as therapists and addiction experts. The goal is to provide a supportive environment for the individual and help them understand how much harm their behavior has caused to their family and others who’ve been affected.

Medical Detox

A clinical detox is the process of removing drugs, alcohol, or other toxic substances from a person’s body while being medically monitored by health professionals. This process is usually needed when a person has developed a physical dependence on a substance, and suddenly quitting will lead to unpleasant and possibly severe withdrawal symptoms. During detox, patients may be administered medications to help relieve these symptoms and ensure their

Residential / Inpatient

In residential inpatient programs, individuals stay 24/7 at a treatment center in a comfortable, immersive environment. The programs’ duration varies but typically ranges from several weeks to months. During their stay, individuals receive intensive therapy, medical care, and support to help them overcome addiction or psychiatric issues. This type of treatment is often recommended for those who would benefit most from a higher level of care than outpatient programs can provide.

Outpatient Treatment Programs

Outpatient programs come in various formats and vary in intensity, the level of participation required, and the services and activities they provide.

Partial Hospitalization Programs

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) allow individuals to go home at night instead of staying at a treatment facility around the clock. They participate in therapy sessions and other activities for several hours per day, typically 5–6 days per week. PHP can be a good option for those who need more support than outpatient treatment but do not require as much intensive care and support as inpatient treatment. They are able to receive care and support while maintaining some level of independence and accountability.

Intensive Outpatient & Standard Outpatient Programs

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are less intensive than PHP but require less time and commitment than inpatient treatment. IOP typically requires attendance for at least nine hours of therapy over three or more days per week. IOP programs focus on ongoing support and counseling to help individuals re-adjust to daily life, prevent relapse, and maintain sobriety. IOP offers an effective treatment for those with less severe addictions or who’ve completed a residential or partial hospitalization program.

Therapy sessions in standard outpatient programs (OP) occur less frequently, sometimes only one per week. A significant advantage of OP is that it allows individuals to receive treatment while attending to their responsibilities and engaging in their daily routines. It is also usually more affordable than more intensive levels of care and may be beneficial for those with relatively mild-moderate drug or alcohol misuse problems.

Medication-Assisted Treatment & Suboxone

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) involves using certain medications to treat substance use issues. MAT has been shown to improve treatment outcomes and reduce the risk of relapse over the long term. MAT options are intended to mitigate cravings and withdrawal symptoms so individuals can better focus on their recovery. These include medications approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), such as methadone and Suboxone, to treat opioid dependence. Acomprosate and disulfiram are also approved to treat alcoholism, while naltrexone is used for both types of substances.

Substance Use Disorder Program Costs in Gandy, Florida

Addiction treatment costs vary depending on factors such as the type of facility, what insurance coverage applies, and what program is chosen. Facilities are either privately or publicly funded. Most accept various private or government insurance plans.

Private Programs

Private addiction treatment centers are owned and run by private individuals or companies. They typically offer individualized, multi-level programs that include a wide range of therapies and services. They also tend to have more amenities and lower staff-to-patient ratios, and admission may be immediate or have very little waiting time. However, they are often more expensive than publicly funded programs and may not be accessible to everyone, depending on their insurance or financial resources.

Public & State Funded Programs

Publicly funded addiction treatment centers may be run by state or local governments, non-profit organizations, or community-based groups. Some examples of publicly funded addiction treatment centers include community health centers, state hospitals, and non-profit organizations that specialize in addiction treatment. These centers often provide services on a sliding fee scale, based on the person’s ability to pay. The disadvantages of these programs are that they generally have fewer amenities, longer wait times, and a higher staff-to-patient ratio than private treatment options.

Insurance-Based Programs

Insurance-based rehab programs are covered, in whole or in part, by health insurance. They typically offer a wide range of therapies and services, including detox, inpatient and outpatient treatment, behavioral therapy, and medication-assisted treatment. They are commonly offered by hospitals and specialized addiction treatment centers. How much insurance covers depends on the person’s plan and the program they choose.

Medicaid & Medicare

Medicaid is a federal-state health insurance program that provides healthcare coverage to low-income individuals and families. Addiction treatment is considered an essential health benefit under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and is covered by Medicaid in all states. Medicare is similar to Medicaid but instead provides coverage to individuals aged 65 and older and those with certain disabilities or medical conditions.
